Council Meets in Support of Pool

The Coquille City Council will hold a special meeting at noon today to support a grant request for the Coquille Swimming Pool Committee.

According to Coquille City Manager Terence O’Connor, the grant writer working for the Coquille Swimming Pool Committee has requested this resolution. The grant writer made the request after last week’s council meeting, necessitating the special meeting. The funding request is due at the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department before the next council meeting in April.

The request will be made under the Local Government Grant program of the Oregon State Parks Department. The LGG program typically funds larger recreational projects, according to O’Connor.

The pool committee’s grant request is for $250,000.
