Was City Council Unkind?
I see Sentinel Editor Jean Ivey opined last week that perhaps The Coquille City Council was unkind to individuals bringing up concerns to the council.
As usual, there is more to the story. The person Ivey talks about is none other than her very own employee Dian Courtright. The whole thing is kind of interesting in a way, because Courtright is no stranger to speaking to the council. In the past she has represented just herself and Concerned Citizens of Coquille. That she is now employed by The Sentinel blurs the lines just a bit more and Nostradamus wouldn’t have a clue who or what this woman represents at any given moment.
While some might think Courtright was dealt an unkindness, others might think Councilors Matt Muenchrath and Loran Wiese took the only recourse left them once she had been given an answer she didn’t care for then unyieldingly continued to press her mistaken point making the same allegation again. Expediency alone would dictate the council moving on at some point.
For the record, Councilor Bruce Parker made the comment Courtright is objecting to and received laughter from some councilors and others in the room. Courtright claims "the council" had an "attitude." They certainly had a mood, which appeared to be jovial at the time the comment offending Courtright was made. The comment is seven minutes into video previously published here on CCN.
You be the judge.
