CVAA Honors Artists in March

by Kathy Phillips
Coquille Valley Art Center is proud to announce a showcase of two of their art instructors, Anna Crosby and Pat Weaver.
They are multi-talented women from the Myrtle Point area and have been instructors at the Art Center for several years. Together they have accumulated a prolific collection of art work using oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, and graphic mediums. Forty-seven pieces of art work are included in the current show.
The show will hang at the Center, located just south of Coquille, during the month of March. The public is invited to attend a reception in their honor on Sunday March 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments and door prizes are planned.
As a young woman, Anna Crosby earned a scholarship with the Portland Art Museum. She moved to the Dora area when she married a local farmer. While raising three children and working on the farm, she took night classes at the art center where she has been a member for 49 years, and an instructor since 1987.
Pat Weaver lived in several different places around the world before settling in the Myrtle Point area. She has a Masters of Fine Arts degree with special emphasis on ceramics, jewelry, and printmaking. She has been an art instructor at CVAA since 1982.
Each of them currently teaches classes Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. They have participated in many art shows and have pictures in private collections around the world. All art work at this show is original and most are for sale. Given the current economy, the artists are willing to arrange payments on an installment plan.
